Austin ISD Project – 2021

Over the last 11 years, providing dynamic LED displays solutions to schools across the US has proven to be one of our most successful endeavors. The success has been measured not only through the customer feedback at each campus, but through repeat installations across multiple school districts.

Recently, in 2021, we partnered with the Austin Independent School District in Austin, TX to expand our work within the district by installing new FocusColor L Series LED displays at each of their Elementary School campuses.

The project included 60 Elementary Schools, each with their own unique challenges relating to placement and visibility to consider. Each marquee included a new full color LED display, internally illuminated identification cabinet, decorative pole cover, and installation as part of the provided scope of work. In addition to the physical hardware, our team’s extensive knowledge and experience working with local municipalities and understanding of the sign ordinance in Austin, created a solution that was consistent across each campus.

60 Schools in 6 Months

Shortly after identifying the install location of each marquee and receiving approved artwork renderings back from each campus principal, we were well on our way to initiating production and laying out our aggressive installation timeline.

During our initial project review with the district, they were seeking a six (6) month project turnaround. The additional on-site training and setup would take a bit longer due to the high level of coordination needed with the leadership team at each campus.

Once production was initiated, a timeline was created with an estimated install completion date of early December, approximately 6 months after the contract was awarded. To successfully achieve this completion date, we would install five (5) new marquees a week concurrent to ongoing production. When the last marquee was installed on Friday, December 12th, a project that encompassed 60 schools across approximately 270 square miles was complete and on time.

As with all Focus Digital Displays installations, the Elementary Schools within the district receive unlimited technical support and software training for the life of the display.  In addition, to our standard five-year parts warranty, a five-labor warranty was provided to ensure optimal display performance at each campus for years to come.
